How do I budget for an espresso machine?

Commercial espresso machines for business applications run from $1,600 to $21,000, depending on the size, output and whether it is a semi automatic, automatic or super automatic machine.

Semi Automatic espresso machines can range from $1800 for a one group machine to $8000 for a 4 group machine, requires operator to grind or use espresso ground coffee, unload, load, start and stop the coffee cycle. They are capable of making from 1 to 8 espressos (25 to 75 espressos per hour), depending on machine size and operator ability and dexterity. Basic knowledge of how to make an espresso is required as well as some training and adjustment to the specific equipment being used. Formal training on equipment usage and preventative maintenance is highly recommended.

Automatic espresso machines can range from $2800 for a one group machine to $14000 for a 4 group machine, requires operator to grind or use espresso ground coffee, unload, and load. The start cycle is activated by the operator but the machine is programmed to stop when the programmed amount of water has passed through. They are capable of making from 1 to 8 espressos (25 to 75 espressos per hour), depending on machine size and operator ability and dexterity.

Super automatic espresso machines  are very easy to use and make excellent espressos and cappuccinos without much effort. They can run from $12,000 to $21000, depending on speed and capacity (from 75 to 240 espresso per hour).  Sophisticated models can be programmed to make up to 28 different coffee beverages from short or long espressos to machiatos and cappuccinos. typically the dealer will work with you at no additional cost to preprogram the machine to your requirements or request. All of our Super Automatic series machines also include a 16 hour train the trainer training program on setting up and operating the espresso machine. Super automatic espresso machines are the most costly, in terms of price, but can save you from 1 to 3 employees per year, which can cost a business owner from $10,000 to $12,000 a year per employee. Due to their super automatic features which grind coffee, load groups, brew and dispense coffee correctly and consistently at a speed of up to 240 espresso per hour, they are used at businesses with high coffee demand (150 to 1000 cups a day). To justify this type of equipment you must be selling at least 150 cups a day or more.
